CLP

Updated guidance on new CLP criteria

We have updated our guidance on applying the classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) regulation.

It covers advice on the new hazard criteria for

  • endocrine disruptors (ED) for human health or the environment;
  • persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT); very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) substances; and
  • persistent, mobile and toxic (PMT); very persistent and very mobile (vPvM) substances.

Follow also our webinar on new CLP hazard classes on 21 November.

New proposals to harmonise classification and labelling

Four proposals have been submitted for:

  • tebufenpyrad (ISO); N-(4-tertbutylbenzyl)-4-chloro-3-ethyl-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-5- carboxamide (EC -; CAS 119168-77-3);
  • Potassium bromate (EC 231-829-8; CAS 7758-01-2)
  • sodium bromate (EC 232-160-4; CAS 7789-38-0)
  • 2-butanone-O,O',O''-(phenylsilylidyne)trioxime (433-360-6; CAS 34036-80-1)

Biocides

Consultation on a candidate for substitution

We have launched a biocides consultation on:

  • 3-Iodo-2-propynylbutylcarbamate (EC 259-627-5, CAS 55406-53-6) for product-type 10.

Have your say until 20 January 2025.

Enforcement

Materials available from Forum’s stakeholder workshop

The presentations and summary from the Enforcement Forum's workshop on enforcing mixture classification based on bridging principles are now available on our website.

The workshop, which took place on 1 October, provided a platform for industry representatives and other stakeholders to engage with enforcement authorities on how the inspectors will check classification of mixtures based on bridging principles.

Webinars

Q&A available: Research needs for protecting human health and the environment

You can now find the Q&A from our June webinar on the event page.

During the webinar, experts from ECHA, EEA and EFSA gave the scientific community key updates on their research needs.

Board of Appeal

Appeal concerning a completeness check
decision dismissed

Case A-011-2023 concerned the rejection of a registration as incomplete following a completeness check by ECHA. The Appellant argued that ECHA’s assessment of its registration went beyond a completeness check.

The Board of Appeal held that the Agency did not make an error in considering, within a completeness check process, that the adaptations submitted by the Appellant did not either relate to the relevant information requirement, set out grounds for the adaptation or contain specific scientific information which substantiated those grounds.

European Commission

REACH - decisions on applications for
authorisation

The European Commission has granted a total of four authorisations for one use of chromic acid, three uses of sodium dichromate, two uses of potassium dichromate, and four uses of chromium trioxide.

Find the substances and all details on Commission's website.

REACH committee meeting in December - draft agenda available

The next meeting of the European Commission’s REACH Committee will take place on 17 December 2024.

One Health

One Health governance in the EU

Take a look at the scientific recommendation by the Scientific Advice Mechanism on strengthening the One Health approach in the EU.

The One Health approach recognises the inherent connection between human, animal and plant health and the health of our environment and the impact that this has on a wide range of policy areas.

ECHA contributes to the approach through its work for chemical safety.
