ECHA recommends more transparency in the trade of hazardous chemicals

To improve the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Regulation, we recommend changes to the legal text. PIC Regulation governs the export and import of hazardous chemicals and pesticides.

Assessment of regulatory needs reports published

Reports for the following substance groups are now available on our website:

  • Thiocarbamates
  • Trialkylphosphates
  • Alicyclic aldehydes (fused cycles)
  • Aliphatic monocyclic alcohols (OH connected to the cycle)

New proposal to harmonise classification and labelling

One submission has been received for:

  • dodine (ISO); dodecylguanidinium acetate (EC 219-459-5, CAS 2439-10-3).


Biocides

 

Want to keep using TCDO by acidification in two product-types?

Companies have withdrawn their interest in getting Chlorine dioxide generated from Tetrachlorodecaoxide complex (TCDO) by acidification approved in the biocides Review Programme for use in:

  • Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals (product-type 2); and
  • Food and feed area (product-type 4).

Notify us by 20 October 2024 to keep this substance in the Review Programme.

Commission decisions on Union authorisation

The European Commission has granted a Union authorisation for:

  • the biocidal product family 'Evonik’s Hydrogen Peroxide Product Family'; and

  • the biocidal product family 'HCl Disinfecting Toilet Bowl Cleaner'.

Consultation on EU’s Drinking Water Directive

The European Commission looks for comments on the draft Implementing Decisions and Delegated Regulations for materials and products in contact with drinking water according to the recast of the Drinking Water Directive (Article 11).


The EU is setting up an approvals system for starting substances, compositions and constituents which will be included in the European positive lists and can be used when manufacturing materials or products intended to be in contact with drinking water.


Deadlines for comments vary from 13 November 2023 to 16 November 2023.
