Highlights from June RAC and SEAC meetings

Our Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) have provisionally concluded on four sectors that could be impacted by the proposal to restrict per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the EU. They also announced the next sectors to be evaluated.

RAC and SEAC meet in September

The agendas of the next meetings of our Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) and Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) are now available online.

RAC will meet from 16 to 20 September and SEAC from 17 to 20 September 2024.

Member State Committee podcast and meeting minutes

Our Member State Committee brings together representatives from all EU Member States to reach consensus on key chemical safety decisions.

REACH

New substance evaluation conclusions published for CoRAP substance

• Phenol, 4-nonyl-, branched (EC 284-325-5, CAS 84852-15-3) was added to the Community rolling action plan (CoRAP) list in 2014 and evaluated by Spain.
  
  
• 3-ethoxy-1,1,1,2,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6-dodecafluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)-hexane (EC 435-790-1, CAS 297730-93-9) was added to the CoRAP list in 2018 and evaluated by Spain.

European Commission decision on Union authorisations

The Commission has granted a Union authorisation for:

• the single biocidal product 'Nordkalk QL 90'
  
• the single biocidal product 'SANICALCO Q'

Legal advisor

Calls for evidence

We are looking for information on:

• Anthraquinone (EC 201-549-0, CAS 84-65-1)
• Oximes: Butanone oxime (EC 202-496-6, CAS 96-29-7) and Acetone oxime (EC 204-820-1, CAS 127-06-0)

The aim is to gather new scientific information on uses, exposure, health effects, toxicology, epidemiology and modes of action of these substances. Any other relevant information is also welcome.

The information will help the Agency in drafting the scientific reports related to exposure limits at the workplace.

EU Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON)

Have your say on EUON

We are conducting an evaluation on the functioning of the European Union Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON). Answer to the survey until 3 July 2024. Your opinion matters.

Need for further research on nanomaterials

We invite the scientific community to take a look at our updated report covering the key areas of regulatory challenge. It emphasises the gaps in chemical data regarding nano-sized materials and encourages scientist to carry out research for expanding the knowledge on nanomaterials.

The report is part of our work under the Partnership for the Assessment of Risk from Chemicals (PARC).
