REACH
Microplastics restriction: Description of the reporting requirements now available
The EU’s restriction on intentional uses of microplastics, which came into force in October 2023, includes derogations for certain uses. Several of these are subject to an annual reporting obligation, with the first deadline approaching in May 2026.
To help companies comply, we have published the definition of the information that will be required to fulfil these reporting obligations. Developed in consultation with stakeholders, the document explains the legal basis, timelines and a breakdown of the information that must be submitted.
Reporting will be carried out using IUCLID, with a dedicated template to be released in the next major IUCLID update. Submissions to ECHA will be made through REACH-IT.
Restriction dossier submitted for certain chromium (VI) substances On 11 April 2025, we submitted a proposal under REACH to restrict the use of certain chromium (VI) substances. We will shortly make the proposal available on our website. The proposed restriction will be evaluated by our Committees for Risk Assessment and for Socio-Economic Analysis, and will be subject to a consultation. The consultation will begin once both committees agree that the report meets the requirements set out in REACH. At that point, the proposal will also be formally published. Due to technical issues, the Registry of Intentions has not yet been updated to reflect this status. Testing proposals We have launched new consultations on six testing proposals. The deadline for comments is 2 June 2025. |
