FROM THE MEDIA Reuters: ECB's De Cos sees another 25 bps rate hike in July As reported by Reuters, the European Central Bank (ECB) will need to raise interest rates by another 25 basis points in July to combat inflation but the path afterward remains unclear, ECB policymaker Pablo Hernandez de Cos said. Read more Cointelegraph: Issuing digital euro is probably a duty, de Galhau says The digital euro holds something in store for every stakeholder, Governor of the Banque de France François Villeroy de Galhau told commercial bankers. Disintermediation is not in the works, he said while emphasizing collaboration, Cointelegraph reports. Read more Finextra: Italian banks launch CBDC pilot project According to Finextra, the Bank of Italy has launched a pilot to assess the viability of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Instead, it is highly unstable and centralized, says European Central Bank (ECB) Executive Board member Fabio Panetta. Policymakers should regulate cryptos and focus on central bank digital currencies.
