EBF at the forefront in the fight against AML & financial crime |
|
The fight against dirty money continues to be in the spotlight for the European Banking Federation next week. On Tuesday the first webinar of the Banking Essentials series will take place, Navigating Complexity in AML Compliance, produced by S&P Global Market Intelligence and EBF. The session will see two industry experts sharing their insights on the challenges and opportunities within the AML compliance space. Join us and take the opportunity for Q&A. On Wednesday, Sebastian Fiedler, Chair of the Federation of German Police Officers (BDK), Wim Mijs, Chief Executive Officer of the EBF and Sven Giegold, Economic and Financial Spokesperson of Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament will sit together at the breakfast eventMoney laundering and financial crime to address the threats to the European security and move closer towards a true solution. Eurogroup Finance Ministers to discuss reappointments |
|
European finance ministers will meet for the Eurogroup Council in Brussels on Monday 17 February. The Eurogroup will discuss the economic situation in the eurozone and appoint a new Eurogroup Working Group President. After Hans Vijlbrief's resignation from his position as President of the Eurogroup Working Group (EWG) on 29 January 2020, Tuomas Saarenheimo, the Finnish member of the EWG, was elected on 6 February 2020 to replace him. Based on the recommendation from the EWG, the Eurogroup is expected to appoint the new President of the EWG, who will take up duties as of 1 April 2020. The term of Eurogroup President Mario Centeno also will end in July of this year. Read more |

Financial & Digital Literacy in the 2020s’
European Money Week Workshop
Tuesday 24 March, 9:00am to 13:30am, EBF Meeting Centre
 To mark the 2020 European Money Week in Brussels the European Banking Federation invites you to join us for a half-day financial education workshop on Tuesday 24 March. Boosting financial literacy has become essential for the well-being of citizens from all ages and social groups, especially in an interconnected society where financial services are delivered digitally. Under the title ‘Financial and Digital Literacy in the 2020s’ we will bring together specialists, innovators as well as representatives of different parts of the economy. The sixth European Money Week begins on Monday 23 March and will see financial education events organized across Europe by national banking associations and the European Banking Federation, as well as national finals of the European Money Quiz across Europe.
