Romania became Europe‘s most important newcomer in the international grain trade. This country is now the 3rd wheat exporter behind France and Germany  in the European Union. However, transparency of its agricultural market remains limited.

Since 2015, the EAT team visited the main wheat production regions of Romania, allowing EAT to get qualified information from the fields and from local operators (farmers and traders).

This year, area and crops have been affected by drought during autumn in some regions. Moreover, consequences of the early February cold snap has been analyzed by the EAT team during the April crop tour. These issues have been highlighted in the EAT April report. Crop conditions will be reviewed again at the beginning of June.

On top of that, the EAT team can also answer to your questions about other crops (rapeseed, barley, spring crops…), thanks to strong relationships established with the local operators.
