We are going to the corn fields in August!
For the 4th time, Agritel consultants and agronomists will assess the corn production potential directly in the fields in Ukraine. For many years now, the country keeps its place as the 4th largest corn exporter in the world after the USA, Brazil, and Argentina, that’s why it’s so important to estimate its new corn crop volume several weeks before the harvest. This year it is even more important because the uncertainty surrounding straw cereal production is gradually spreading to the corn market, while the weather is far from optimal throughout the world. Indeed, the weather conditions are still a matter of concern in the biggest corn production areas: this is the case of Brazil and the western parts of the US Corn Belt. In Ukraine, recent rains have been beneficial explaining the high production potential posted by the USDA, at 37.5 Mt. However, fears are growing as a heatwave is in place for several days. At the flowering stage, agronomists are announcing some loss of potential that will need to be estimated in the Black Sea region. There is still a long way to go until the harvest and the slightest incident on the production side could change the picture. To be one of the first to estimate the potential for corn production 2021 in Ukraine, the EAT teams will go back to the fields between the 16th and 20th of August.
The EAT clients will receive a first-handed information every day during the crop tour, and our detailed forecasts in the final report. | |||
