Dear fellow South Carolinians, Thank you for subscribing to my weekly e-newsletter, and please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. CO ALERTS Act Early this year, two people died due to carbon monoxide poisoning in public housing in South Carolina. I have made it a top priority to help ensure the safety of families moving forward. My Carbon Monoxide Alarms Leading Every Resident to Safety Act (CO Alerts) Act will save lives, and its House passage last Tuesday is an important step towards Senate consideration. The CO ALERTS Act ensures that more than 1.3 million highly vulnerable Americans in federally assisted housing are protected from this silent killer. This bill will aim to curb the over 50,000 people visiting the emergency room every year due to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. The most at risk are children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. You can learn more about the bill here. Remembering 9/11 Last week we remembered the American lives that were lost 18 years ago. We remembered those who fell at the hands of evil and those who went into the rubble to save them. All these years later, we still stand in solidarity. We remember that we are all Americans, and no act of terror can change that. May we never forget. Judicial Nominees As we ease into the fall season, work on Capitol Hill has done anything but slow down! We’re making history in the Senate, confirming a record number of nominees. Last week we confirmed six judges, totaling 152 since the start of this administration. The more judges we confirm who will hold to American ideals and the Constitution, the better! National Peanut Day Friday marked National Peanut Day a staple of the Palmetto state. We have the best peanuts around!
Sincerely, Tim |
