A Message From the Editor

Good morning. Dubai, which has been one of the fastest-growing locations for corporate law firms, may be losing some of its lustre, as its head count growth has stalled over the past year. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is becoming an increasingly popular location for large law firm expansion. In fact, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld announced on Thursday that it has received a license from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Justice to operate in the Kingdom and plans to open an office in Riyadh later this summer. Meanwhile, we're seeing more law firm mergers in Big Law: McDermott Will & Emery and Schulte Roth & Zabel have voted in favor of a proposed merger that is expected to close by August 1.
