'This is how badass we really are' - Tumi Morake continues to blaze a trail for women in comedy
There's something familiar about Tumi Morake, writes Channel24's Music Editor Nikita Coetzee.
Being on the phone with her reminds me of being caught up in a lengthy conversation with a friend I have not heard from in a while. It also helps that she keeps referring to me as "friendship" right before we burst out laughing at something she has said.
It's 15:45 in SA when I connect with the comedian via Zoom. She's in the US - Virginia, to be exact - and her day is just about beginning.
She describes her extended stay in the States as "slightly complicated", adding that right now she is "half residing" there and "half just waiting to go back home".
Tumi and her family have been stuck in America for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
