Pistachio Shell Birds Painting

By attosa

Pistachio Shell Birds Painting - finished paintingI like to save the shells from my pistachio nuts to craft with. Here, I've turned them into birds on a tree I painted. Sometimes bare winter trees are nice in the way that you can see all the animals that perch on the branches without leaves getting in the way. This painting is dedicated to my father who loves to birdwatch and absolutely adores pistachios!

This could be for any occasion not just Valentine's Day, give it for Grandparents Day, Christmas, Missing You, or just because! What's special about this card is when you put both pieces together you could see how the artwork turned out!

"I Like You Elote" Multi-occasion Greeting Card

By attosa

Elote is Mexican street corn that is absolutely scrumptious! It's skewered, grilled, then topped with a creamy sauce, chili powder, cheese, and cilantro. I made a bunch of these corn cards to give to my friends who are huge Elote fanatics, and they were a hit! These are easy to make, using just paper, glitter, and cord. Give them out for Valentine's Day, Cinco de Mayo, or just because!

Flamingo Heart Card or Kids' Craft - facing flamingosThis is a cute flamingo heart card you can give to someone for Valentine's Day, or glue down onto a card. It would be cute if they were facing each other too. But the purpose of this craft was because we went to the zoo, the kids thought how cool a flamingo was and wanted to make one! They both had fun playing with these together and making these flamingos kiss!

Holder for Crochet Hooks
Those cheap plastic pens with caps make great travel containers for your fine crochet hooks. Just remove the "pen" part and pop in your hook.
Make Glitter Stick to a Glass Project
To make glitter stick to a glass project spray with hair spray. I put some glitter in my hand and just blew on it and it looks like I bought it like that. I bought my egg plates at the dollar store after Easter at 1/2 price.
Reuse Laptop Carrying Cases For Craft Projects
Do you have a laptop that is not working anymore? Save that case! Especially the type of case that unzips all the way to lay flat, and is lined with a flannel-like material. Those are great for organizing your craft supplies.
Keep a Craft Box Handy
If you're in the process of making a lot of crafts, keep a lidded storage box nearby to drop things in when you're finishing them or if you have to stop for some reason, then your things can just be covered and set aside with no fear of losing anything.
Making a Square from a Paper Rectangle
Cutting the excess off to make a perfect square.
Reusing A Cornflake Box
Reusing A Cornflake Box. I am presently working on a 100 other uses of cereal boxes but I will just give you the best one of them.
Watch For Zippers And Buttons At Thrift Stores
I find that a great deal of things sold at thrift stores are 2nd hand but not used. I have found zippers still in their sleeves for .25, or a savings of about 900%.
Make Tealight Candles From Leftover Candle Wax
When you have gotten the most out of your favorite smelling candle and there is too much left to throw away, purchase tea light molds and tea light wicks. Melt the remaining wax and pour into the tea light molds.
Paper Towel Holders For Ribbons
Here is my craft tip: Save or collect (from yard sales) old paper towel holders, either the counter stand kind or the hang-on-the-wall kind, and use them to store your ribbons for both crafting and wrapping.
Soap Slivers To Mark Fabric
Take the small pieces of soap that are left over in the shower, dry them out and presto, you've got a great marking tool for fabrics and quilting.
Recycled Round Frame

This Week's Questions
Changing the Sensor on a Singer Futura Embroidery Machine
I need to change the sensor on my Singer Futura embroidery unit that holds my hoops. Can I take the whole bar off or do just the sensors come off?
Using Acrylic Interior Paint for Art Pouring Projects
I'm a budding artist alla grande. I'm looking to 'acrylic pouring', but I want to know if acrylic indoor paint can be used successfully on art projects such as pouring projects. I'm appalled at the prices of just a little paint for pourings in art stores. If the paint is the same in either art store or paint stores - I'm a winner!
Making a Plate Stand
Making a Plate Stand - plate in homemade stand, sitting on couch
Reverse Not Working on Singer Merritt 2404
When I push in the reverse, the feed dog seems to change, but the stitches look like they are set on zero to 1 and barely move. Everything works going forward. I have oiled and cleaned everything. When the reverse is being held in, you can watch the gear shaft underneath, and it obviously is not moving as far as it does going forward.
Looking for Simplicity Pattern #1442
I am looking for Simplicity 1442 pattern. It's a rag quilt, fire truck. It also has a hedgehog and peacock. It can be used or downloadable. I have found them on eBay, but have a hard time paying $60-75 for a pattern.
