Deerfield Park District COVID 19 Phase 3 Update June 1, 2020 On Saturday, May 30, 2020, the Mayor of Deerfield lifted all local restrictions and we are now in line with the State of Illinois Phase 3 guidelines for re-opening facilities and offering services. There will be numerous services available throughout the next few weeks as we safely implement Phase 3 guidelines. Most of the services offered will require reservations. Below is a short synopsis of services that will be expanded or implemented within the next 2 weeks: Outdoor Tennis – Effective June 3, doubles will be permitted on all high school and park district courts. New signage will be posted in the next few days. We will continue to require on-line registration as we have since courts become available. Additional courts and reservation times at park district courts will also open over the next few weeks. Coordination with the high school will continue for the availability of their courts from 8 am – 8 pm. Due to the high demand of the courts, we ask that you book only one-hour blocks for the next few weeks as to permit more people the opportunity to play. Youth Sports – We have been working with our youth sports affiliates to generate schedules and ensure Phase 3 protocols will be met or exceeded. We anticipate this coordination to be finalized in the next few days. If your child is part of Pegasus Soccer or Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball, your coach or other team representatives will contact you with information on when your child may begin practicing. Jewett Park Community Center Registration Services – Starting June 8, the Registration and Information Desk at Jewett Park Community Center will begin to offer appointments for persons who may not be able to perform registration tasks remotely. Thirty-minute appointments will be made available from 9 am - 1 pm weekdays. Protocols will include staff escorting you to and from the entry doors. Sachs Recreation Center – Effective June 8, a number of services will be offered at Sachs Recreation Center that will include one on one personal training, tennis and outdoor fitness classes. All activities will require reservations. Patty Turner Center – Our target date to re-open on a limited basis is August 17. Programs and services will require reservations and activities will be offered in small groups. In early September, we will look to expand services and programs as we carefully monitor local and regional health reports and statistics as to limit the possible exposure of COVID-19 to our senior population. Other services and activities such as the dog park and basketball courts will be examined for incremental openings and availability. Other amenities such as playgrounds and public restrooms will be closed until additional state and county guidelines are provided. The skatepark area at Jewett Park is still under construction and is not available for use at this time. We appreciate your patience during the first 2 phases of the pandemic. The severity of the possible spread of the COVID-19 virus cannot be underestimated and we will look to incrementally add more services and amenities over the next few months.
