The past few weeks have seen a devastating escalation in the number of Rohingya refugees escaping from violence in Myanmar – over 600,000 people have fled to Bangladesh since 25 August. UNHCR’s refugee camps are overwhelmed, and monsoonal rains have brought flooding and the spread of disease.
This is the fastest growing humanitarian crisis in the world.
UNHCR’s priorities include the delivery of clean water and sanitation facilities to prevent the spread of diarrhoea and waterborne diseases. UNHCR is also supporting a cholera vaccination program and has set up a treatment centre for malnourished children, with another four centres planned. But we need your help immediately.
