OpenAI releases Operator, an AI that can operate your PC

It's designed to simplify tasks, but it'll cost you $200 a month

OpenAI has launched Operator, an AI agent designed to perform web-based tasks autonomously, such as booking travel, filling in forms, and doing online shopping, Ars Technica reported. OpenAI says the tool, which works off user prompts, will "help people save time on everyday tasks while opening up new engagement opportunities for businesses."

Operator will also self-correct, request user approval for sensitive actions, and transfer control when needed. Currently available as a $200-a-month "research preview" for ChatGPT Pro users in the U.S., OpenAI plans broader access and integration into its ChatGPT chatbot ...

MOBILE

I know which new Samsung phone I’d buy, and it’s not the Galaxy S25 Ultra

They're all great phones, but one of them particularly suits

Digital Trends’ mobile specialist Andy Boxall has been lucky enough to spend several hours with each of Samsung’s newly unveiled Galaxy S25 handsets. After carefully considering each of the new handsets, he eventually settled on the one he'll likely buy.

“It may come as a surprise, but I’d go for the usually awkward middle Galaxy S25 model — the Galaxy S25 Plus — over either of the others, despite having used the Galaxy S24 Ultra over the past year,” Andy wrote, adding that Samsung has made some changes to the S25 Ultra’s body that he’s not entirely happy about. Find out exactly why he settled on the S25 Plus, and what he’ll miss most from not getting the Ultra ...

The most exciting TVs of 2025

Looking for a new TV? Then check these out!

As usual, there were a lot of great TVs on display at CES 2025 in Las Vegas earlier this month. Digital Trends’ home theater expert Caleb Denison has now had time to fully digest everything on show and come up with a list of nine outstanding TVs that’ll be lighting up living rooms this year.

The lineup includes TVs from TCL, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Hisense, Sansui, and Sony. First up is the TCL QM6K, which uses the company’s new QD-Mini LED tech to deliver 53% more brightness. Sizes range from 50 to 98 inches and pricing starts at $750. It’s pretty clear that this TV maxes out TCL’s efforts to reliably deliver more for less. Read on — or watch the video above — for the other TVs!

How you can watch all the 2025 Best Picture Oscar nominees

The ceremony takes place on March 2, so how can you watch the Best Picture nominees before then?

The nominations for the 2025 Oscars are out, and Netflix’s Emilia Pérez dominates with 13 nominations, one short of the record shared by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land.

As always, the biggest prize of the night is Best Picture. The 10 films nominated for the coveted award are Anora, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, The Substance, and Wicked. Some of these — like The Brutalist and Nickel Boys — are still in theaters, while others — such as Emilia Pérez and Conclave — can be streamed at home. Doom: The Dark Ages gets a release date

Lots of juicy information was revealed on during the Xbox Developer Direct stream on Thursday

It’s official: Doom: The Dark Ages will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 15. Developer Id Software shared an extended look at the upcoming first-person shooter during the Xbox Developer Direct showcase.

Rather than iterating on Doom Eternal's mobility-heavy gameplay, The Dark Ages is focused on raw power, Digital Trends reported. Id says that it took inspiration from 1993’s Doom, with a more grounded approach to combat. The Dark Ages also includes more flexible accessibility options, allowing players to dial the game’s speed up and down, among other features ...
