Over the weekend, Dr. Deborah Birx noted that anyone who traveled outside of one’s normal bubble should behave as though they have the coronavirus.
This advice was mentioned on-air by Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy on Monday, who followed by noting how Birx also advised these people to get a test within a week if they were out and about and traveled this week.

But co-host Will Cain engaged the topic, explaining that he would be ignoring mask-wearing guidelines following holiday travel, and adding moreover that most Americans would likewise ignore guidance because of individuality or something. “I don’t know what we will call it, individual spirit, but I’m not going to be putting on a mask around my family," he said.
Trying to dress up conspiratorial thinking and pointless stubborn contrarianism as some sort of deeply American impulse of individuality is obviously offensive as well as presumptuous. And to his credit, Doocy didn't just let it slide. He immediately interrupted, explaining to Cain what Birx was saying.
“Think about that you go out at grandma’s house and you come home, and Dr. Birx says if you have in your community people over 65, you have got to protect them,” he said. He added, “You would hate to have somebody my age give to somebody a little older or vice versa, whereas they are just saying just be safe.”
There is an ongoing and ridiculous effort from parts of the right to treat caring about one's community, family, and friends as if it is an act of self-enslavement. Cain irresponsibly pandered to or embraced that argumentative witlessness. Steve Doocy called him out on Fox & Friends. Good for him.

Do you believe in magic? Maria Bartiromo seems to. During her interview with President Donald Trump on Sunday, the Fox News and Fox Business anchor promoted a Federalist article titled “5 More Ways Joe Biden Magically Outperformed Election Norms.”

“These are some of the impossible statistics that we have found,” Bartiromo said — vouching for the piece’s veracity.

The anchor rattled off the items she — and the column’s author, J.B. Shurk — deemed to be unexplainable anomalies. None of the five points are even remotely indicative of any type of sorcery. One example, “Biden overcame Trump’s commanding primary vote,” would be comical if it weren’t so pathetic. The writer — and, by extension, Bartiromo — argued that because Trump received 94 percent of the vote in the Republican primary (a race in which he faced no opposition), his success should have carried over to the general election. This is more or less akin to suggesting the results of a preseason NFL contest should factor into the final score of the Super Bowl.

But no. Apparently Joe Biden’s victory cannot be explained with logic and reason. It must be witchcraft, says Bartiromo — an unserious person with a very serious platform.

Bartiromo, on Sunday, aided and abetted Donald Trump’s attempt to subvert democracy. It’s that simple.
For nearly a full hour, she allowed the president to spout lie after lie, conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory. Trump was permitted to filibuster for minutes on end, and spin a narrative which is both patently false, and totally removed from reality.
And when it came time to press him, Bartiromo pulled a disappearing act.
