It can be difficult to field criticisms of Bitcoin. Sometimes people are being disingenuous, or they don't have a proper understanding of how Bitcoin works. But it is almost always worth hearing criticism out — even if it is easily disprovable, Bitcoiners should not be afraid of criticism.

In this opinion editorial, Heidi Porter encourages Bitcoiners to engage with constructive criticism in 2023 and to stop "shooting" or blocking messengers who present real criticisms of Bitcoin. 

She also reminds Bitcoiners to not believe their own criticisms are flawless, and to keep in mind that a key component to constructive criticism is knowledge about the subject your speaking about. 

Porter argues that it takes humble research, hard work and an effort at discourse to deal with the issues that are raised, and when addressed this way hopefully it will make for a happier year for more Bitcoiners, not just the few.

But this lack of privacy can lead to digital paper trails, leaving users vulnerable to hacks, data leaks and various other privacy compromising events. 

Private, peer-to-peer alternatives support Bitcoin's core ideology of permissionless, electronic cash — but may require paying a premium for liquidity. While this premium can be difficult for users to see, it may, in the end, pay off relative to what a privacy comprise can cost.

Bitstop Founders Andrew Barnard and Doug Carrillo have acquired Genesis Coin Inc., the world's largest Bitcoin ATM software platform. Genesis Coin will move its company headquarters to Miami, FL.

Together, the two companies have more than 12,000 Bitcoin ATMs across the U.S. and internationally, facilitating billions of dollars in annual sales.

In regards to their decision to acquire Genesis Coin, Barnard said “Genesis Coin gave birth to the Bitcoin ATM industry … It’s the first and largest Bitcoin ATM software platform in the world. Evan built a platform trusted by some of the largest bitcoin ATM operators in our industry, both domestically and internationally, including the Chivo network in partnership with the Government of El Salvador.”
