The New York String Orchestra returns to Carnegie Hall

The New York String Orchestra returns to Carnegie Hall for a winter tradition that’s lasted now over 50 years. Don’t miss their upcoming concerts on December 24 and 28, both led by Jaime Laredo. For the first, the young musicians are joined by violinist Nancy Zhou in an all-Mozart program that includes the composer’s “Turkish” Concerto and magnificent “Jupiter” Symphony. The second concert features Laredo with violinist Shannon Lee in Tchaikovsky’s virtuoso Violin Concerto, plus Brahms’s Symphony No. 1. Tickets for both concerts start at just $25.

Jodi Rudoren at the Miami Jewish Film Festival

Don't miss this year's Miami Jewish Film Festival, running from January 9-23 in the Sunshine State. 

Forward editor-in-chief Jodi Rudoren will get in on the action, interviewing Dani Merkin, the director of the documentary, "Aulcie," on Monday, January 13. The world-premier event, at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in Aventura, will be followed a reception for South Florida-area subscribers and supporters. 

She will moderate a panel the next night as well, after the movie, "Incitement."

Join us at a special open house at the Museum at Eldridge Street for a chance to view its latest exhibition “Pressed: Images from the Jewish Daily Forward.”

Discover the treasured metal plates used to print images in the newspaper back in the day, along with actual prints made from the plates using traditional equipment. Forward archivist Chana Pollack, who was instrumental in the creation of “Pressed,” will give a short talk about her work preserving and unfolding The Forward’s history.
