We can keep Bob Englehart's voice in the public debate, with your help

I'm asking for your support for my buddy, Bob Englehart, who worked as the editorial cartoonist for the Hartford Courant newspaper in Connecticut for 35 years, until his job was eliminated by the hedge fund that bought the newspaper; a common story for cartoonists these days.

Bob's cartoons are popular and important. His humor often sneaks his cartoons into the pages of conservative publications. He is an important part of the public debate and I would hate to see his voice lost. Cagle Cartoons has syndicated Bob's popular work for 20 years, but with newspapers shrinking, consolidating and dropping content that readers might disagree with, Bob needs the support of political cartoon fans.

Bob is the third endangered editorial cartoonist that we've been highlighting for crowd-funding on Cagle.com. We're putting a new cartoonist up each month, hoping to prime their online "tip jar" and keep them drawing. I hate that even the best political cartoonist veterans, like Bob, are endangered these days as print publications fade away --all while cartoon readership on the Web, and the influence of editorial cartoons has never been higher. The problem is that the Web has never developed a culture of paying for content.

Some modest "tips," in any amount, from fans can make all the difference for Bob.

We have a nice "Caglecast" video podcast --one on one with me and Bob, talking about Bob's cartoons and his  career.  I hope you'll take a look. Some samples of Bob's recent cartoons are below. Please visit Bob's crowd funding landing page where you'll see more from Bob and can make a contribution to keep Bob drawing.

Thanks for being a fan of what we do!
