Good afternoon, friends. It's Thursday, which means we're near the close of the week. Congrats. Here's what's happening on NOLA.com. Jaeger hotel battle: A legal battle between two heavy hitters in New Orleans’ hospitality industry has been settled. Business writer Stephanie Riegel has the details. Charles Barkley’s $1M promise: Sports personality Charles Barkley promised $1 million to St. Mary’s Academy after two of its students solved the Pythagorean Theorem. Poet Wolfe reports the former basketball star is true to his word. Chompers: Some recreational fishers say blacktip and bull sharks are giving them fits. The fishers claim the black tip and bull shark populations are chomping the other fish they catch and want the state to ease catch limits, Mike Smith reports. Simpler times: Video and DVD rental stores have gone the way of the dinosaurs. Except, of course, for this throwback in New Orleans. Doug MacCash calls it the cinema version of King Tut's tomb. Epic Saints starts: The Saints open their season on Sunday against the Panthers. Jeff Duncan hopes into the wayback machine today for a look at the Saints' "strange relationship with season openers."
