Hi John!

Interesting start to the new year. I do hope it's going well for you so far. Please let me know.

Something weird started happening to me though.

As I gain more and more followers, I'm losing more and more at a rapid rate, making my actual growth very slow and incremental.

So I wrote something in my journal about it. I'll share it with you in a sec.

But first, some highlights!

DAD JOKE OF THE WEEK

My friend developed an invisible rocket.

I can't see it taking off.

CARTOON OF THE WEEK

"Send Me Someone to Love"

This cartoon is many years old. But I pull it out once in a while to help remind us that we are often surrounded by people who need love.

It's also meant to remind us that love is not selective. True love (aside from romantic love) loves all.

Because it's like the sun and rain that falls on everyone. It's a favorite.

THERE ARE PRINTS OF THIS ONE

POST OF THE WEEK

I call this one "The Choice of Change".

It's really about making a decision.

Isn't it?

We can be who we are.

Or we can be who they want us to be.

That's always the choice.

Which one will you be?

A LOT of people identified with the woman in this cartoon.

(I'm talking about this more in a second. Stay tuned!)

PAINTING OF THE WEEK

"You Are My Safe Space"

I love my charcoal drawings.

Apparently many others do too.

Because I have a hard time keeping the original drawings.

That's a good thing.

This one's about the safety of love. There are only ever a few people we ever feel really safe with. Maybe even only one. Do you have someone who you feel totally safe with? I hope you do. This charcoal and ink drawing is about that longing, that pleasure, that beautiful thing that true love gives.

This one is still available.

Do You Risk Changing?

I wrote this in my journal last week when I saw how many people unfollow me per week.

"You reveal your truest self and the people who once supported you now reject you.

If you’re committed to being true, you know you’ll have to go through this again. Sometimes you change. Sometimes you just reveal more. You’ll offend the ones that affirmed and accepted you because they can’t accept the new you. You upset people who thought you were on their team. You will lose followers and friends. You may find new ones, but they may be just as fickle and will unfriend and unfollow you when you do another reveal.

As I gain more followers, I’m losing more followers. Someone messaged me that he has followed and unfollowed me many times as he has agreed or disagreed with me.

I’m talking social media, but it’s in real life too. I’ve been informed that they are no longer interested, or we have nothing in common anymore, or they will have nothing to do with me.

Whose team am I on? Some people claimed I was on the Christian team. The evangelical team. The pastor team. The ex-pastor team. The exvangelical team. The progressive team. The deconstruction team. The agnostic team. The atheist team. The universalist team. Satan’s team. God’s team. You name it. They’ve all said I’ve been on their team.

Each one of my iterations finds new friends and followers. A new team.

But when I don’t play by their rules, I’m kicked off their team and lose those friends and followers.

You know who’s team I’m on now? None! I’m not into rivalries anymore.

I’m 100% committed to my personal transformation at any cost.

The world is where I will have the courage to reveal it."

You can watch if you want to.

We can even be friends forever… if you dare!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Funny I read this book BEFORE I realized this last week that me being more true to myself, being more open and honest about it, and being happy, also involves losing friends and followers!

"The courage to be happy is also the courage to be disliked." (Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga, The Courage To Be Disliked)

Have you experienced this?

A FINAL NOTE

So... have you lost friends and followers just because you are you?

I'm here and I'm listening.

Have a great week, my loved ones.

David
