I’ve been interested in David Goggins for a while now. He went from being an unhealthy, overweight security guard to becoming a Navy Seal and ultra-marathon runner. He has some books out that are worth reading. Some months ago I had a dream about Goggins that I want to share with you straight out of my journal: “I am with David Goggins. He’s got an idea in mind. It’s a fitness and health project. I suggest it should be on a lake. His idea is a massive, ambitious project. I start teasing him like he’s the Messiah who came to save the world who had a virgin birth and everything. Suddenly, Goggins gets all insecure and starts reining himself in, saying he should be less ambitious and more cautious. I say NO! He needs to do this. People need this and he can help more people this way. But he’s all intimidated now. He’s afraid of the perception out there that people will think he thinks more highly of himself than he ought. So he’s going to pull back and play small and safe. I try to inspire him to go ahead with his huge plans, but he’s become despondent.” If you know anything about dreams, they say more about ourselves than anyone. Goggins says he has an inner Goggins that is weak and self-pitying whose voice is always playing in the background and that he has to fight all the time. Well, apparently I have an inner David who wants to do great things to help more people but is afraid of what people will think of him. And that’s very accurate! That’s exactly how I’m feeling these days. I have big plans. But I’m scared. Do you know this feeling? Do you feel this way? Are you aware that you have something that could really help people, but you’re also afraid of what people will think? That you’re too ambitious, too lofty, too big for your own britches, too greedy? I’m being invited to let my light shine and not hide it under a bushel. You are too!
