| So…let’s get started: You need to identify your current reality. Where do you feel trapped? In a bad marriage? In a sexual identity that isn’t truly you? A job that makes you miserable and wastes your talents? A friendship that doesn’t honor or serve your growth? A town where you feel like you just don’t belong anymore? A church you're not happy in? The next step is to write it down. Admit it to yourself (and the page). There’s something truly powerful and liberating about writing something down. It relieves you of the burden of keeping it a secret and somehow forces you to take a good honest look at the “it” that’s making you feel unhappy and stuck. Come on! You can do it! Take that pen (or pencil or crayon or lipstick) and just write it down. Things like, “I want out of my marriage.” “I don’t identify with society’s label of me.” “I hate my job!” “My friends suck.” “I don’t like where I live.” “My church isn’t good for me!” And just like that, you’ve officially taken your first step in the fight for freedom!
