| Hi friends and happy Earth Day! Here at LF, we believe deeply in protecting our Mother Earth and all of her inhabitants. Like many of you, we’re heartbroken by this administration’s dismantling of hard-won climate protections. From the very beginning, creating thoughtfully has been at the core of Lingua Franca’s mission — from the first sweater I stitched in Montauk, to our sustainably sourced 100% cotton sweatshirts from Portugal, and our women-led, often hand-crocheted or hand-woven pieces from Peru. All of our factories are leaders in responsible manufacturing, with decades of experience and certifications that ensure ethical sourcing and expert craftsmanship. Producing in small batches, intentionally and with care, isn’t just better for the planet — it’s better for all of us. Since founding LF in 2016, I’ve also become more intentional in how I shop. Before purchasing anything, I try to ask myself: -How much thought went into this piece? -Was it made by a small company or a large manufacturer? -Do I align with the values of the people who made it? -What materials were used? -Was it made sustainably and ethically, by humans earning a fair wage? -Is it the best quality of its kind? -Will I still love and use it a year from now? Five years from now? It might sound a little woo-woo, but I truly feel there's a soul — a soulfulness — to be found in the objects we surround ourselves with. And I believe there’s soul in every LF piece. Each one is created with care, quality, and purpose in mind. Our hand-embroidery is, I think, the best and most thoughtful customization available anywhere. I’m so proud of what we’ve built — and I hope you feel proud to support us too. Happy Earth Day!
