SCIENCE & DISCOVERY
NASA's Perseverance rover beamed back striking images of Mars after 2 weeks cut off from Earth Image Source:NASA / JPL-Caltech The "solar conjunction" between September 28 and October 17 led NASA to limit communications with spacecraft on Mars to insure against malfunctions. If signals from Earth to Mars got jumbled due to the solar conjunction, the rovers could damage themselves.
So, everybody took a little vacation. The rover was parked between a dune and a rocky outcrop, waiting to come back online, according to its Twitter feed. It used the downtime to monitor the weather and see how Martian dust moves in the wind.
Now Perseverance (and friends) are back to business as usual. And the first task was to send back these stunning images of Mars.

The story of an unsung hero who saved thousands from Nazis is finally being told
Among what must have been hundreds of thousands of stories of sacrifice, heroism, and courage that played out among the Jewish communities across Europe during World War II, the story of Mr. Radio Philips, the Angel of Curaçao, has never been well told.
But 45 years after his death, Jan Zwartendijk, an ordinary Dutch company man-turned-real hero, is now the subject of a new biography called The Just: How Six Unlikely Heroes Saved Thousands of Jews from the Holocaust, which details his life-saving bravery that saved perhaps 10,000 Jews from annihilation during the Holocaust by helping them flee Europe.
Zwartendijk did what “everyone would have done… if they had been in this position,” according to his son.
