Disney On Ice presents Mickey and Friends

Cleveland Orchestra presents Levit plays Brahms

World-renowned pianist Igor Levit joins the Cleveland Orchestra, under the direction Franz Welser-Möst, to perform Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert, at Severance Music Center, includes the world premiere of “Vers le silence,” a new orchestra work by Hans Abrahamsen. Tickets start at $21. 11001 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Jan. 7-8. Cleveland Foundation Rink at Public Square

The Rink at Wade Oval

Skate around the ice at Wade Oval’s ice rink this season, under starry lights in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood. Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Elvis Tribute Artist Spectacular “Birthday Edition”

Some of the best Elvis entertainers in the game including Shawn Klush, Cody Ray Slaughter and Ryan Pelton will perform all of Presley’s biggest hits, from his rockabilly roots to the Las Vegas concert era. Darren “Big Baby” Brand at the Cleveland Improv

“Revealing Krishna: Journey to Cambodia’s Sacred Mountain”

In a first-of-its-kind exhibition, the Cleveland Museum of Art uses immersive digital technology to take visitors to the floodplains of southern Cambodia to tell the story of one of the most prized items in its collection: a rare, 7th-century sculpture of Krishna. “Picturing Motherhood Now” exhibit at Cleveland Museum of Art

One of the museum’s major shows features works by a diverse group of more than 30 contemporary artists focusing on the subject of what it means to be a mother. The works explore motherhood through the lens of slavery, racism, feminism, undocumented immigration, the changing definitions of family and gender, and more. Members free. Immersive Van Gogh

This popular art experience at the new Lighthouse ArtSpace offers a unique way to experience Vincent Van Gogh’s post-Impressionist works. Michael Angelo’s Winery expanding in Richfield

The brothers who run Michael Angelo’s Winery continue to build the brand and the winery. They opened the spacious winery more than three years ago, offering folks in the Richfield area a place for a glass or a bottle, along with a bite to eat. They are earning medals, expanding on site, and banking on Ohioans’ love for sparkling wine. The winery is at 5515 Broadview Road, Richfield. Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. DETAILS

 

New eateries in Northeast Ohio

Restaurants endured a challenging year in 2021. Many business owners and chefs saw it as a risky time to open a new eatery. But others saw an opportunity. Across Greater Cleveland, restaurateurs have brought us dozens of new dining spots, offering a multitude of cuisines and culinary styles – from Italian to ice cream to craft beer to specialty popcorn. There are new restaurants offering everything from Afro-Caribbean ethnic eats to Mexican, Japanese and more. “This is Us”

The stage is set for the sixth and final season of NBC's "This Is Us." Pearson family matriarch Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is in the grip of dementia; the wedding of Kevin and Madison (Justin Hartley, Caitlin Thompson) is off; the marriage of Kate and Toby (Chrissy Metz, Chris Sullivan) is toast, and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), the most likely Pearson sibling to succeed, seems poised to fulfill his destiny. There are younger generations to be accounted for, including scene-stealers Asante Blackk and Lyric Ross as Malik and Deja. The series returned Tuesday, the beginning of an 18-episode last chapter. The first episode is available now via Peacock and Hulu. Cable subscribers can watch on nbc.com with a sign-in. New episodes air Tuesdays on NBC and are available the next day on Peacock and Hulu. “The Tender Bar”

Ben Affleck has another winning turn in "The Tender Bar," the George Clooney-directed adaptation of J.R. Moehringer's memoir about growing up on Long Island. It starts streaming on Amazon Prime Video on Friday. Tye Sheridan plays the author, who in the absence of his father, starts to look to his uncle Charlie (Affleck) to fill that void. In his review for The Associated Press, Mark Kennedy wrote: "'The Tender Bar' is a gentle, oddly crafted but loving look at men, fueled by a soundtrack of classics like Paul Simon's '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover' and Steely Dan's 'Do It Again.' “Four to Dinner”

If you've already made it through Season 2 of "Emily in Paris" and all your romantic comedy mainstays on Netflix, why not change things up a little bit with an Italian spin on the genre, "Four to Dinner," coming to the streamer this week? Four single friends try different pairing combinations in this new flick starring Matteo Martari, Matilde Gioli, Giuseppe Maggio, Ilenia Pastorelli, Luís Filipe Eusébio and Elmano Sancho. “Good Sam”

A father-daughter relationship is the beating heart of CBS' "Good Sam," which debuted Wednesday. A health crisis takes brilliant but testy heart surgeon Dr. Rob "Griff" Griffith (Jason Isaacs) out of commission as a hospital's chief of surgery. His equally gifted but overshadowed offspring, Dr. Sam Griffiths (Sophia Bush) steps in and proves a natural, which her recovered dad resents. There are lighter moments between their clashes in the series from producers Katie Wech and Jennie Snyder Urman, who worked together on "Jane the Virgin." “The Asphalt Jungle”

The Cleveland Cinematheque launches its two-month-long film noir series with two screenings of John Huston’s “The Asphalt Jungle.” Presented in a vintage 35mm film print, the 1950 crime drama starring Sterling Hayden and Marilyn Monroe has been called one of the best heist movies ever made. The Weeknd

After some teases at the turn of the year, notorious Grammy Award hater The Weekend releases his fifth studio album, “Dawn FM” (XO/Republic), on Friday, Jan. 7. It’s not yet known if his August single, “Take My Breath,” will be part of the project, but he has tipped collaborations with Quincy Jones, Lil Wayne, Tyler, The Creator and Jim Carrey -- the latter of whom tweeted that the set is “deep and elegant.” It certainly has a high bar to clear after the chart-topping and double-platinum success of 2020′s “After Hours.” DETAILS

‘A Bowie Celebration’

This weekend’s virtual “A Bowie Celebration” will mark what would have been the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s 75th birthday.” A Bowie Celebration" premieres at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, and will be available for 24 hours via rollinglivestudios.com. Mike Garson, who played in Bowie’s bands for decades, organized the virtual event, which features performances by other band alumni as well as the likes of Def Leppard's Joe Elliott, members of Duran Duran, Noel Gallagher, Rob Thomas, Living Colour and Walk The Moon. Dead & Company wants to take you to Mexico with the band -- virtually. The group -- sans John Mayer due to COVID and drummer Bill Kreutzmann, who's been sideline by a heart ailment-- will be streaming performances from its Playing in the Sand festival in Cancun starting at  7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, with other shows on Jan. 9-10, Jan. 13-15 and Jan. 16. RuPaul

RuPaul is an all around entertainer with a flourishing VH1 reality competition series "RuPaul's Drag Race" and a longtime music career that includes the classic song "Supermodel (You Better Work)." Now, the drag queen titan will take another musical step further with the performer's 14th studio album "Mamaru," out Friday. It's led by the single "Blame It On the Edit," which appears to explore the editing process of the "Drag Race" series. DETAILS

 

Holiday Hangover at House of Blues

Still not over the holidays? Get them out of your system at this high-energy show at the House of Blues Cleveland. The night includes performances by DJ Sparky B, Top 40 cover band Pop Fiction and Old Skool, who will be performing your favorite dance hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Ages 21 & over only.
