A Farmers Market Guide to Greens of Spring

From shelling peas to asparagus, green vegetables are some of the first signs of spring. When the soil warms up, these tender veggies sprout from the ground and offer the best of their light and delicious flavors, especially at the farmers market. Take them home, wash and pat them dry, and enjoy them with a wide variety of recipes, including soups, salads, and dips.

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Featured Vendors

For Jojo Zhu and her father, crafting handmade dumplings is both a family tradition and a labor of love. A favorite at the Mission Community Market, Papa's Dumpling can now be found on Tuesdays at the Ferry Plaza as well.

When Jennifer Huang realized how hard it was to find Indonesian food in the Bay Area, she learned how to make it herself. A go-to vendor on Saturdays, Nusa now offers savory lunch options at the Ferry Plaza on Thursdays, too.

Mission Community Market: Featured Vendors

On Rudy Jimenez's farms in San Juan Bautista and Watsonville, spring greens are in full bloom. Pick up spring onions, leeks, and more at Green Thumb Farms in the Mission Community Market.

Kim Leonard's lotions and sprays are handmade at her home in the Mission District. All of her products are vegan and scented with natural ingredients. Visit En Vie Naturals on Thursdays in the Mission Community Market.
