Director of National Intelligence halts in-person briefings to Congress on election security over leak concerns

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence will no longer offer in-person briefings to congressional intelligence committees about election security and foreign election interference, which stemmed in part from concern over leaks, according to a congressional official briefed on the matter.

Congress will still have access to classified written intelligence reports, but committee members will not be able to question officials about the nuances and meanings behind the written product.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff called the unprecedented decision to deny in-person briefings on a particular subject "shameful."
