Three Northeast Ohio eateries tell their origin stories in ‘America’s Best Restaurants’ video series

America’s Best Restaurants has captured the stories behind three Northeast Ohio restaurants this month. They were at Twisted Taino in Parma, Tita Flora’s in Independence and Grandpa Pizzi’s Place in Conneaut recently. During each visit, the ABR production crew toured the restaurant, interviewed the owners as well as filmed popular dishes and scenes from the dining room. After editing, episodes will be about 15 minutes. They will be aired on the America’s Best Restaurant’s home page, social media channels, and each restaurant’s Facebook page before the year ends. Lopez moves to larger space with new chef and new menu

About one year after opening in Chagrin Falls, Lopez will be moving to a larger space at 44 North Main St., Chagrin Falls. The new restaurant, Lopez 44, will grow from 50 seats to 75. And it will open with a completely revised, Southwestern menu. Diners will find Mexican influenced classics like tacos al carbone as well as Southwestern American dishes like ribs and BBQ chicken. Little Italy Meatball Crawl winners announced

The Taste in Little Italy Meatball Crawl and Wine Tasting has announced its winners for the 2024 event. Despite the rain on Sunday, more than 1,200 people headed to Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood to try out more than a dozen meatballs from local vendors that included restaurants, bars, shops and beyond. Northeast Ohio farmers embrace microgreens for nutrition, flavor benefits

Microgreens are a category of produce all of their own. The Hall of Fame Village is transitioning from one football-themed restaurant to another. The Gridiron Gastropub is going into the spot where Don Shula’s American Kitchen is this month, with a grand opening set for November. Pinter hires Clevelander to head U.S. operations

Pinter, a British-based company, has hired Paul Benner to lead its U.S. operations. Pinter makes a unique beer-making device that offers folks a taste of what brewing entails. It condenses the process, and the device itself fits in fridges. Benner is a co-founder of Platform Beer Co. READ MORE

La Ville Lumiere, a new French brasserie, opens in Cleveland

After six months of renovation, La Ville Lumiere opened in Cleveland in late September. Chef/owner Kevin O’Connell completely renovated and reinvented the space left vacant in 2021 by the Clifton Martini & Wine Bar. The new restaurant is a French brasserie with a menu that includes classic French preparations such as escargot, bouillabaisse and more. READ MORE

Cleveland Beer Week

The 16th celebration of craft beer is under way. Two key events are happening this week:

Neighborhood crawl: One-of-a-kind collaboration beers and special releases will be available at assorted stops along Lee Road. Info: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11: Check in is at Boss Dog Brewing Co., 2179 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights. Tickets: $25 ($100 for group of five). Advance tickets are preferred, but space permitting tickets will be available at the door.

Barrel Aged Bash 4.0: At the week’s big finale, breweries and distilleries will offer barrel-aged beer and their spirit companions. It includes 10 beer samples and 10 paired spirit samples and food from Butcher and the Brewer. Western Reserve Herb Society Herb Fair

The 77th fair offers a chance to check out a selection of hand-crafted herbal items including blends, jams, jellies, teas, wreaths, pressed-flower note cards, potpourri, baked goods and creative recycling finds. Old Brooklyn StreetFest

Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood is hosting an all-day celebration this Saturday including food, live music and more. The Old Brooklyn StreetFest is set for noon to 8 p.m. on October 12. Secret Supper Club murder-mystery dinner

If you love who-dunnits, take part in “The Haunting of Bellpock Manor,” a fully immersive, themed dinner club experiences produced by the Secret Supper Club. Dante in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood is holding a six-course dinner featuring acclaimed and favorite Opus One wines. Wine 4 Life is scheduled

Wine 4 Life is a fundraiser that raises money to fight rare cancer. The event, to be held at The Madison in downtown Cleveland, is Saturday, Oct. 18.
