With the dust only just settling after the recent launch of Nikon's Z7, what should you take away from Canon's new full-frame mirrorless ILC? Read on for some initial thoughts, and a closer look at the EOS R's key features.

Hours after the official launch of the Canon EOS R, Chris and Rishi sat down to chat about the camera and their initial impressions of the system so far.

We'll have plenty of opportunities to get to know the camera much better in the short and long term, but for now we've published our very first images with Canon's new EOS R.

Alongside the new RF system, Canon announced the EF-M 32mm F1.4 STM, which offers an equivalent focal length of just over 50mm when attached to an M-series mirrorless body.

Canon will offer a trio of EF-to-RF adapters – there's a basic adapter, another with a customizable control wheel and a third with support for drop-in filters. The adapters are compatible with both EF and EF-S lenses.

With the launch of the RF mount, four lenses have debuted alongside the consumer-grade EOS R, providing a tantalizing glimpse into Canon's future ambitions.
