Hello everyone! Welcome back to the DPReview newsletter. Due to a few upgrades we’ve done on our end, we’ve been out of commission for a few weeks, but we’re back in a new year better than ever with plenty of news to catch you up on. Below is a breakdown of the biggest news stories from the past week or so. Hope you had a wonderful few weeks of holidays! Gannon Panasonic announces the S5II and S5IIX Panasonic kicked off the new year by announcing two new 24MP full-frame cameras, the S5II and S5IIX. These are the first mirrorless cameras from Panasonic that offer phase-detection autofocus, marking a pivot after more than a decade of using its Depth-from-Defocus technology, which relied on contrast-detection autofocus. Nikon announces development of 85mm F1.2 S and 26mm F2.8 Z-mount lens Both the 85mm F1.2 S and 26mm F2.8 prime lenses are designed for Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount camera systems.
