Perhaps it's someone's compelling gaze, or a marvelously breathtaking landscape or a even group of unique objects composed in a still life. In any case, I find the visual language of painting can often convey more layers of emotion, connection, intrigue and beauty than even the most carefully crafted explanations." BIO Diane Reeves is an award winning contemporary American artist who enjoys painting a wide range of subjects, emphasizing lovely color and beautiful light. Although she is well known for her luminous floral still life pieces, which have been her focus for the last few years, Diane's diverse practice also includes landscape and portrait work. Her brushwork moves between subtle and intentional to lively and expressive, depending on the mood and intent of each piece. Similarly, she carefully selects her color palettes, from rich and colorful to soft and subtle, as befits each new concept and the scene or subject before her. It all began in 2007, when Diane attended her very first painting workshop with a renowned and much beloved portrait artist who assured her on the last day of the workshop, "Diane, all you need is mileage behind the brush!" That bright flicker of encouragement from such an incredible artist propelled Diane onward for the next few years, even while keeping her full time job. Finally, in 2012, she concluded her previous career and became a professional artist. Diane has since received numerous top awards in local, regional, national and international exhibitions and competitions. Diane has also served as a competition judge for local, regional and national events. Her work has been featured in several prestigious art magazines, including International Artist, American Art Collector and Southwest Art. In addition to her painting career, Diane is also a popular painting instructor, offering valuable demos, insights, and lessons during her color mixing, floral and still life painting workshops around the country, from Putney (Vermont) to Boca Raton (Florida) and St. Louis (Missouri)! In 2021, Diane and her husband began a new adventure, moving from south Florida to their new home only minutes away from the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia. Once they settled in, she was excited to resume both painting and her workshops. EDUCATION Diane has been fortunate to study with many artists she admires greatly, including: Rose Frantzen, Daniel Gerhartz, Casey Childs, Johanna Harmon, Michelle Dunaway, Kathy Anderson, Daniel Keys, Suchitra Bhosle, Tim Rees, Susan Lyon, and Romel de la Torre. ORGANIZATIONS/SOCIAL MEDIA Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, Cecelia Beaux Forum, National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society (Signature Member), American Women Artists (Associate with Distinction), and American Impressionist Society. Her collectors are throughout the US and abroad. Instagram: @dianereevesart Facebook: Diane Reeves Creating Art is about Creating Magic.
