The Lunch Line: Diana Ross, Maroon 5 - Endymion star power. And the latest in the Jack Strain trial

By Bob Warren

To the jury: For two decades, Jack Strain burnished a tough-on-crime persona that served him well – five times voters elected him sheriff of St. Tammany Parish. But at some point today a jury is expected to begin deliberating eight sex crimes charges against him. And a guilty verdict could send him to jail for life. Here's where the trial stands.

Someday We’ll Be Together: Big news from Carnival land. Diana Ross and Maroon 5 will headline the Krewe of Endymion’s Extravaganza post-parade party in the Caesar's Superdome. The parade is scheduled to roll Feb. 26. Keep your fingers crossed that Carnival parades can roll in 2022.

Monday blues: About that Saints game from yesterday . . . it's no better this morning. Still a lot of dropped passes. Still a frustrating, 2-point loss on the game’s last play. Columnist Jeff Duncan says we should be prepared for more games like the one on Sunday.

Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today.

Photos: Chalmette teen who missed Halloween surprised with a parade in his honor

Bryce Favalora, 15, of Chalmette missed out trick-or-treating this year because of medical issues. A huge fan of the Joker, Bryce has tuberous sclerosis complex, a rare genetic disease that causes benign tumors to form on the brain and other vital organs. Seizures kept him from trick-or-treating. So family, friends and neighbors dressed in Halloween costumes and decorated their cars for a drive-by celebration Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, so he wouldn’t miss out on his favorite holiday. Read more
