Oct. 28th, 2023; from 2 pm-4 pm at the Corky Gonzales Library (1498 Irving St, Denver, CO 80204) The latest addition to the local Tummy Tales series Primas, Manitas and Calabacitas & Other Tummy Tales! Join us as Colorado Latix authors and storytellers read excerpts from their stories about the food they grew up with. A free food tasting and reception to follow. For Dia de Muertos we place our beloved departed ones favorite foods on our altars. This is a chance to hear the stories behind these foods and taste the diverse recipes our ancestors’ passed on. |

| Iconic Mexican paper mache artist Carlos Lecanda “Las Catrinas” Exhibit Opening! Sat. Oct. 28th, 2023; 9am-5pm at the Corky Gonzales Library (1498 Irving St, Denver, CO 80204) A nine-month exhibition of Mexican artist Carlos Lecanda’s “ Las Catrinas”, at the Corky Gonzales Library, opening Sat. Oct 28, 2023. In collaboration with MSU Denver Chicana/o Studies Journey Through Our Heritage, CHAC, and the Community Library in Ketchum Idaho, six of Lecanda’s masterpieces will grace the Denver Library through April of 2024. The centerpiece of the exhibit is “La Primas” a piece that was commissioned by the Community Library in Ketchum for their 2023 Winter Read. “Las Primas” is based on award-winning Denver author and MSU Denver alumni, Kali Fajardo-Anstine’s collection of short stories, Sabrina and Corina. |
