HARD FACTS, SOFT FORMS: INTERVIEW WITH FEDERICA FRAGAPANE
In Shapes of Inequalities, Italian information designer Federica Fragapane translates hard, often brutal realities — economic injustice, climate crisis, gender-based violence — into a visual language that is both scientific and sensitive. The installation, currently on view at the 24th International Exhibition at Triennale Milano, unfolds through a series of 16 visuals where hard data takes the form of soft, organic shapes and vibrant colors. ‘I often say that I see my job as an alternative version of a photographer: I am photographing angles of reality,’ Fragapane says during an interview with designboom, ‘I strive to capture portions of them through my work.' LAUNCHING AN ART-WRAPPED ROCKET INTO SPACE
In what has been described as the world's first fusion of art and aerospace, contemporary artist Jacky Tsai and Chinese aerospace company LandSpace have launched an art-wrapped rocket into outer space. The rocket's entire exterior has been transformed into a canvas depicting scenes from the Chinese legend, Chang’e Flying to the Moon, in Jacky Tsai's bold visual language.
