WEEK IN REVIEW SERPENTINE PAVILION 2025: INTERVIEW WITH MARINA TABASSUM designboom spoke with Marina Tabassum, this year's Serpentine pavilion architect, ahead of its opening on June 6th. Titled A Capsule in Time, the project explores themes of impermanence, tactility, and light through a modular, timber-built structure designed to move, adapt, and ultimately disappear. ‘The pavilion is called A Capsule in Time for many reasons,’ Tabassum tells us. ‘One is that I find the connection between architecture and time quite intriguing (…) pavilions have a temporality, which is not about time but about a moment—to embrace and enjoy it.’ Read our conversation in full here, and discover more recent interviews here. TRANSFORMING THE SIMPLE HANGER INTO A DIY TOY COLLECTION In Jeu de Cintre, aequo.design transforms the standardized, utilitarian hanger into a playful toy collection using just a few simple tools. Sculptural birds, dinosaurs, planes, boats and more take shape, each crafted from just one hanger, with a manufacturing process intentionally simplified down to essentials to suit all ages and skill levels. See more submissions by our readers here, and find out how to upload your own project here. The weekly is an inside review curated by Sofia Lekka Angelopoulou. |
