WEEK IN REVIEW FILM: MAD ARCHITECTS' CREATIVE VISION FOR THE FENIX MUSEUM IN ROTTERDAM ahead of the fenix museum of migration's opening this spring, MAD architects releases ‘ma yansong: journey to design the fenix tornado', a short documentary tracing the creative vision behind rotterdam's latest architectural landmark. the film, which premiered on designboom last week, offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the intricate design work and thoughtful process that transformed the fenix from concept to reality. the project, which also marks MAD architects‘ first cultural building in europe, includes the renovation of the fenix warehouse, built in 1923, as well as the construction of 'the tornado', a sculptural staircase and platform that emerges from the historic building, symbolizing migration journeys. 'the tornado is a metaphor about a journey,' ma yansong explains in the film.
