WEEK IN REVIEW INSIDE THE MAKING OF A MUSIC VIDEO we speak to award-winning director owen brown on the occasion of his latest short film, which premiered on designboom earlier this week. part art film, part documentary short, it chronicles the creation of the largest temporary land art installation in arizona's history, a collaboration between american artist jim denevan and the navajo nation, realized for the music video of 'moving on' by pop-rock band A R I Z O N A. 'the land art we made is the second-biggest piece of land art in arizona history,' brown tells us, 'the only land art that’s bigger in the state is james turrell’s roden crater.' read our conversation in full here, and discover more recent interviews here. THE NEW VALUE OF WASTE in response to the staggering waste generated by the fashion industry, textile designer hana mitsui has developed a method to repurpose discarded fabric and create original yarns. inspired by traditional japanese hand-weaving techniques, the designer utilizes waste materials to give them a new value as yarns that can be used for both industrial and hand-weaving looms. see more submissions by our readers here, and find out how to upload your own project here. the weekly is an inside review curated by sofia lekka angelopoulou. |
