Dear designboom reader, Recent sculptures come in different forms. They can be interactive halo lights that move like water when touched, like Lachlan Turczan’s installation for Google. They’re even sculptural chairs made of frozen water, a series by Tokujin Yoshioka that melts over time. At times, these works weave through and take over the space, as seen in Laura Ellen Bacon’s hand-woven willow installation that occupies a chapel. Then, at Coachella 2025, these sculptures appear as kinetic, light-blooming inflatables, swaying and rippling against the breeze. Thanks for reading! Matthew Burgos | Editor |
