dear designboom reader, recent installations in public spaces encourage viewers to interact with them. in uganda, they gather people in the open to play board games, a series by rebecca khamala using coffee tree branches and musambya logs. viewers can also toy with their reflection and imagination, the way kaito sakuma's liquid mirror does around malaysia's historic penang. at times, these interactive installations follow every step the viewers take. at least that’s the case with the rectangular blocks by DRIFT at luma arles, which swarm toward the visitors wherever they go. speaking of swarms, our conversation with random international discusses ritualism through their triptych 'swarm', on display at scorpios bodrum along turkey’s coast. thanks for reading! matthew burgos | editor |
