dear designboom reader, the latest projects from japan fuse architecture, art and craftsmanship. exhibited as works of art in hokuto, these transparent, drop-shaped tents are developed using 3D scans of the white birch forest they inhabit. in kyoto, this cozy stopover features wooden panels realized in collaboration with an artist that specializes in dyeing plants and trees, which, in combination with a chromate steel wall, creates the perfect juxtaposition of craftsmanship and industrial aesthetics. finally, a 1994 house by world-renowned architect kazuyo sejima takes on a new role as the stage for creations by various artists invited by japan's chain museum. thanks for reading! sofia lekka angelopoulou | deputy editor |
