milan design week 2021 is fast approaching, taking place from 5 to 10 september this year after the change of plans due to the pandemic. with designboom's head office in milan, we are planning an extensive coverage of all the must-see installations, exhibitions and product releases. already curious about this year's highlights? check out our extensive guide here.

some of the projects we've already shared and looking forward to are schemata architects and TANK's ‘SENBAN’, a new method of lathe processing to carve out any form; the sculptural ‘flowing fragments’ pieces of richard yasmine; and ‘robustnest', a portable incubator that protects newborns against hypothermia, by ÉCAL student fabien roy.

THE DESIGN PRIZE – designboom’s annual design awards – will celebrate the lifetime achievement award during this special edition of milan design week, and hand out the golden madonnina to william sawaya and paolo moroni of sawaya & moroni!
