dear designboom reader, 'cloudscape of haikou', the wormhole-like library designed by MAD architects, becomes the latest addition to china's contemporary architecture scene. overlooking haikou bay, the sinuous, organic volume is the first of sixteen pavilions commissioned to improve public space along the city's coast. meanwhile, BIG has revealed visuals of 'O-tower', a loop-shaped skyscraper set to house OPPO's new R&D headquarters in hangzhou. last, a team headed by grimshaw architects has won the competition to realize the shenzhen airport east integrated transport hub. the winning proposal celebrates green space in the chinese city with a sculptural, luminous roof structure that takes its cues from mangrove trees and their lush canopies. thanks for reading! sofia lekka angelopoulou | senior editor |
