Hi everyone!
This is a callout to all our supporters - we need your help!
Due to COVID-19, Desert Pea Media has struggled with the postponement and cancellation of some significant projects due to border closures, community access and health concerns. Obviously, community safety comes first and we have delivered a sequence of awesome projects locally to keep things ticking over. BUT, it's hit us hard and we NEED new projects.
You may or may not know this, but DPM doesn't receive core operational funding. We have always existed on fee-for-service project income, which has seen us thrive for years. Until 2020. With the lack of projects, we've gone back to the drawing board over the last 18 months, and assessed our approach, our operations and our outputs. One thing rings true through all of it - we are in service to the 'yarn', to Indigenous people across this land, and to making sure their voices are amplified and their stories heard. We've spent time looking at the 2 Independent Evaluation Reports from 2019-2020, and taken onboard the recommendations.
One of the outcomes from that process is a re-designed project model that embraces community need through long-term, legacy-focused community engagements. This multi-year model requires strong partnerships, and will take time to get it right. We are taking some positive risks to innovate, and evolve our work for real-world impact and to train/mentor the next generation of DPM Leaders.
That being said - we are still delivering our ground-breaking 1 and 2 week music and short film projects and we are need of locking in a few more projects to keep us running. If you, or an organisation you are connected with is considering commissioning a DPM project – NOW IS THE TIME.
We have space to deliver community projects in late 2022 and early 2023. Get in touch today and support DPM through a difficult period! |
