Good morning and welcome to the first Saints Insider Newsletter for the month of September. On Thursday, we started our “Tipping Point” series on nola.com. It’s a series that explores the state of the franchise. We started it off with a pair of stories on the player the Saints signed in the offseason to lead the offense. Derek Carr, Chapter 2Derek Carr got a chance to do what many starting quarterbacks never get a chance to do. He chose his destination, picking the New Orleans Saints to be the team he wanted to play for. Beat writer Luke Johnson takes you into what this fresh start means for Carr and what it means to the Saints. We also have the story on just how competitive Carr is. Practice squad tweaksOne day after announcing the 16 players on the practice squad, the Saints made two changes to it. They added a pair of running backs. Click here to see the changes to the practice squad. What’s next? The Saints practiced Thursday and will take the next three days off before returning and getting ready for the September season opener against the Tennessee Titans. That doesn’t mean Luke, Jeff Duncan and I will be off though. We will have plenty of coverage for you throughout the weekend. Check our website for more, including my column on the five things the Saints need to happen this season to reach their full potential. Also, Jeff looks into his crystal ball and tells you what to except this season. That’s all for today. As always, thanks for reading. Kickoff is now just 9 days away. Have a great weekend.
