Road Trip for Energy Transition

Essen is the centre of the energy industry and Berlin is the capital of start-ups – combine the two and you have the dena Start-up Bus. For two days from 17th to 18th February, dena was on the road with 30 Berlin-based company founders to present ideas, make new contacts and create partnerships for applied energy transition at Europe’s leading energy trade fair, E-world in Essen.

United for a European energy transition

dena has taken over the presidency of the European Energy Network for a year. The network of Europe’s national energy agencies has a concerted effect on European energy policy.

Alliance for Building Energy Efficiency (geea)
Continuing to efficiently develop building energy standards

The Federal Government is currently considering how existing building energy efficiency standards can be developed further. geea is involved in simplifying the regulatory law and making it more efficient.

Energy efficiency within companies
dena supports the Energy Efficiency Campaign networks

In order to reduce energy consumption within companies, the German Federal Government and industry established the Energy Efficiency Campaign networks. Its aim is to initiate 500 corporate alliances by 2020. dena manages the Head Office.

Energy-efficient refurbishment
First guest house becomes ambassador for energy transition

After extensive energy-efficiency refurbishment, the youth hostel in Überlingen recently reopened as a modern, energy-efficient establishment. The dena pilot project, ‘Check-in Energy Efficiency’, helped to achieve this.

Competition
‘I’m a refurbishment hero, because …’

People who refurbish their houses have great stories to tell. The dena competition ‘Refurbishment Heroes’ is giving owners of detached and semi-detached houses the opportunity to tell their personal energy-efficiency refurbishment stories.

LNG task force: “Now, more than anything, a policy is required”

Liquid natural gas (LNG) has the potential to significantly advance environmental and climate protection in road freight transport. So dena is working with Zukunft ERDGAS and the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW) to develop the market. Oliver Frank, dena’s Head of Division, explains how the LNG task force will achieve this aim and why there are currently no competitive alternatives to LNG.
