New DE-CIX Internet Exchange: Lisbon
Lisbon is the place where the sea cables from Western Africa and South America first hit the European continent. It is the perfect place to enter Europe and exchange traffic instead of going further north. DE-CIX Lisbon will be ready for service at the end of Q4 2018, and we will start taking orders in January 2019. Read more.
Madrid and Lisbon will be interconnected from day one
Our new exchange in Lisbon and DE-CIX Madrid will be connected from day one. All networks that will connect in Lisbon can automatically peer with all networks connected in Madrid, which means they can peer with currently close to 130 networks. Read more.
Milestone at UAE-IX: New all-time peak of 100 Gbps, and the first 100GE customer is live
Traffic at UAE-IX in Dubai hit a new all-time peak in September: 100 Gigabits per second! This a huge milestone for our exchange in Dubai. And we are happy to announce that the first customer with 100GE, Amazon, is already live. Read more.
The end of a milestone: Sweeping out DE-CIX FRA 7 in Frankfurt
In July, we completet the migration from DE-CIX FRA 7 to DE-CIX FRA12, the new core node in Frankfurt. In August, we had to clean up and, finally, leave the old place. But at least we said goodbye with the assistance of some robots. Read more and see some pictures.
Istanbul: First customers connect via DirectCLOUD to Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services
Recently, the first two customers connected to DE-CIX Istanbul in order to connect to cloud service providers with DE-CIX DirectCLOUD. The service enables Internet service providers and enterprises to benefit from private access to cloud service providers. Read more.

Core-Backbone: 6x100 GE, and no end in sight
We are happy to announce that Core-Backbone, a long-standing DE-CIX partner and reseller, has upgraded to 6x100 GE at DE-CIX Frankfurt. In addition to Frankfurt, Core-Backbone is a reseller for DE-CIX’s Internet Exchanges in Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, New York, and, since this summer, also in Madrid. Read more.
Rascom expands its presence at DE-CIX’s Internet Exchanges
Rascom, a long-time DE-CIX partner, has expanded its presence at our IXs. In September, they expanded the bandwidth of their IP network in Germany, and connected to DE-CIX in Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich. In addition, they upgraded to 100G in Frankfurt, and connected also to DE-CIX in New York. Read more.
