The Denver South High School Jazz Combo performs a wide variety of jazz standards and charts from all eras and backgrounds of jazz. The combo is one of the most active performing ensembles at South High School and has performed throughout Denver and the surrounding area. In addition to their regular performances, they have participated in Jazz Festivals in Greeley, Denver, and Chicago.

A multi-instrumentalist and composer who performs on trumpet, bass and drums, Brad Goode is recognized as a unique stylist with a highly creative approach to improvisation. He has recorded on many jazz albums, including 19 as a leader for the Delmark, Sunlight, SteepleChase and Origin labels.

Brad Goode earned a BM degree in classical trumpet at the University of Kentucky, and an MM degree in bass at DePaul University. His trumpet teachers include Vincent DiMartino, Byron Baxter, Clark Terry, Chris Gekker and William Adam. He studied bass with Larry Gray, Donald "Rafael" Garrett ,Carroll Crouch, and Eddie DeHaas.

Lunches with Purnell Steen & the Five Points Ambassadors. The last Friday of every month from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM.

For over 30 years, Purnell Steen and the Five Points Ambassadors has been dedicated to preserving and playing the Jazz and Blues music of Denver's legendary Five Points neighborhood.
In September 2022, the Ambassadors tour Denver’s Sister City, Brest, France. The band has performed for many dignitaries, including the 2008 National Convention, playing for the Clintons and other notables. Purnell is a cousin to Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, George Duke, 5-time Grammy Award winner Dianne Reeves, and legendary bassist Charlie Burrell.

Kids Matinee: Animal Farm

February brings the Animal Farm, created by Farmer Dave, to the Kids' Saturday Matinee.

Animal Farm performs original music and educational comedy for children and families exploring themes of social and emotional learning, community, self-expression, and the environments through the eyes of our furry, feathered, scaly, and shell-dwelling friends. Blending music, educational comedy, and interactive storytelling, their interactive and energetic performances delight listeners of all ages.

Held monthly, the Kids’ Saturday Matinee provides children and parents with opportunities to share in the fun of making music by listening to and watching performances, participating in easy group activities such as sing-alongs, and introductions to various musical instruments in participatory demonstrations.

Same Cloth

Same Cloth is a charismatic, Denver-based band that uses their individual peculiarities to share meaningful art. Started in 2019 by multi-genre vocal-piano duo, JoFoKe and Solomon Chapman, Same Cloth performs original music and creative cover arrangements. Along with JoFoKe's vocal stylings and Solomon Chapman's keyboards Same Cloth’s musical vision is brought to life by Will Gaines on bass, Callum Bair & James Tré on guitar and Matt Campbell on drums. As a unit, Same Cloth combines the diverse traditions of Black American Music to create an energetically eclectic and emotionally elevating live music experience.

Same Cloth’s debut single “No Good”, a relatable song about smartphones, was released in January 2022. Their debut EP is expected in early 2023. Their public performance schedule, music, social media, and YouTube are accessible via Linktr.ee/SameClothBand.

The Sonics have been the Mile Hi ‘go-to’ band for touring Blues national acts for 15 yrs. The band has backed national blues acts like Big Bill Morganfield, Steadyrollin' Bob Margolin, Ronnie Baker Brooks, grammy -nominated Lurrie Bell,two grammy -nominated John Primer and the late Pinetop Perkins, & the late Bo Diddley.
