Multi Grammy nominated vocalist-lyricist Roberta Gambarini was mentored by, toured the world and recorded with some of the greatest Giants of Jazz. She has been twice named Singer of the Year by the International Jazz Journalists Association.
Based in Denver since 1980, pianist and composer Eric Gunnison has led a distinguished career during which he has not only established himself as one of the mainstays of the Mile High Cityâs vibrant jazz scene as an instrumentalist, bandleader and educator, but has also attracted a global following performing, touring and recording with internationally renowned jazz artists, particularly jazz vocalists.
Paul Romaine has led, recorded, or performed with countless combinations of the Denver areaâs best players and with internationally acclaimed artists such as Eddie Harris, Benny Golson, James Moody, Randy Brecker, Jimmy Heath, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Chris Potter, Christian McBride, Roberta Gambarini, Peter Bernstein, Larry Goldings, Houston Person, Charlie Rouse, Eddie Gomez, Bobby Watson, Jack McDuff, Clark Terry, and the Woody Herman Orchestra. Paul plays with numerous groups including Convergence, The Ken Walker Sextet, Big Swing Trio, the Jazz Worms, and Peter Sommer Septet, where he also writes and has recorded critically acclaimed CDâs. Paul has served on the music faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder since 2005, and also taught at MSU Denver.
Mark Simon is one of the busiest bassists in Denver. Mark has taught jazz bass at CU Boulder and has been a director and mentor with CCJA since itâs inception. He is a member of Convergence and the Jazz WORMS and Dale Bruningâs groups. Mark toured the world with Carmen McRae and has shared the stage with Mark Murphy, Claudio Slon, Lew Tabakin, Art Farmer, Jimmy Heath, Rosemary Clooney, Regina Carter, Mose Allison, Ernestine Anderson, Eddie Harris, Bill Frisell, Dizzy Gillespie,James Moody, Joe Farrell, Houston Person, Benny Carter, among others.

David Mesquitic is a pianist, composer, and educator committed to the intergenerational transfer of the knowledge, history, and traditions of jazz. Mesquitic currently teaches at the University of Wyoming as Lecturer in Jazz Piano where he also maintains a schedule performing with his trio, adjudicating, and commissioning music throughout the globe.
David remains active performing, touring, and arranging as leader of his trio, big band, and working sideman in both jazz and commercial based projects. Mesquitic has had the privilege to study with luminaries Andy LaVerne, Gerald Clayton, Tamir Hendelman, Steven Feifke, and Benny Green. Mesquitic has also had the privilege of sharing the stage and/or recording with Postmodern Jukebox, Jeff Hamilton, Aubrey Logan, Steven Feifke, Benny Benack III, Carmen Bradford, Tony, Glausi, Clark Sommers, Andre Hayward, James Morrison, Chad L.B., Alex Frank, Joe Peri, Micheal Sailors, and Christian Wiggs.

After studying under the tutelage of jazz guitarist Joe Negri and contemporary pianist Geri Allen at University of Pittsburgh, Jason's work has led him to experiment in a wide variety of creative projects from modern jazz to opera. Since moving to Colorado in 2020, Jason regularly performs in the area with various groups, jazz combos, and his original quartet, Superimposition. Lazlo Torok is a vibraphonist and composer from Denver, Colorado currently studying jazz performance at the Juilliard School in New York City. In his music, he attempts to convey the emotional depth of the human experience. He explores the relationship between composition and improvisation to create vessels for individual expression and a cohesive group dynamic. Lazlo is very excited to be joined by drummer Maliq Wynn, currently in his last year at Berklee College of Music, pianist Max Moore plays professionally in the Denver area, bassist Mitchell Galligan is double majoring in computer science and jazz piano at Oberlin College and Conservatory in Ohio, and alto saxophonist Dylan Kries is in his last year at the Manhattan School of Music.

Joe was featured on Chuckâs highly acclaimed recording North By Northeast and both musicians enjoy a longtime friendship and musical synergy with plans ffor a recording together in the works. Join them as they feature original compositions from Joeâs recent Resonance album as well as compositions from Chuckâs recent recordings. Musical Style: Contemporary jazz, original music, neo-soul, improvisation
Daruma is a fresh, new contemporary jazz project featuring original music by some of Denverâs finest young talent. Their sound takes audiences from stank-face-inducing grooves, to intimate ballads, to massive Coltrane-inspired swing. Daruma reinterprets the jazz aesthetic for the 21st century and crosses it with progressive rock, film music, and neo-soul in a genre-bending original sound. Members of the ensemble have performed with leading voices in contemporary music ranging from Billy Childs, Rufus Reid and Tia Fuller to the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Big Gigantic. Theyâve played at notable venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Blue Note Amsterdam, and Birdland, and have won ASCAP and Downbeat awards. The ensemble will release their debut album on the respected Monk Music label in the spring of 2024.
