US is September’s Nonprofit of the Month in conjunction with Greg Gisbert’s Residency Week at Dazzle, Sept. 23 – 28. There is an overarching theme of Mental Wellness, Community Support, and Awareness for each of the shows in the Residency. Dazzle is amplifying these messages to encourage other to seek help without fear of stigma. It is equally important to help loved ones seek help. We all deal with mental wellness to various degrees. Not all wounds are visible, but that doesn’t make them any less real or minimize their need for healing.

Donations can be added to any tickets purchased in September.

Coda Quartet featuring Daniella Katzir

The Coda Quartet is a string quartet curated by members and friends of the Colorado Symphony led by violinist Karen Kinzie.

Daniella Katzir is a singer-songwriter who was originally inspired by American Folk music of the 60’s. After exploring many genres over the last 25+ years, Katzir now focuses on a unique blend of ukulele and finger-style guitar.

This special night will feature original material written by Daniella arranged for the quartet along with some mutual favorite covers that will leave your heart smiling.

"It’s Jazz. It just doesn’t sound like it.” This is how virtuoso guitarist Oz Noy describes his intoxicating blend of jazz, funk, rock, blues, and R&B.

Born in Israel, Oz Noy started his professional career at the age of 13 playing jazz, blues, pop, and rock music. By age 24, he was one of the most established studio guitar players in the country. Since his 1996 arrival in New York, Oz has made a huge impact on the international music scene. His unique and intoxicating style has broken all the rules of instrumental guitar music by focusing on the groove.

The Oz Noy Trio is rounded out with Dennis Chambers on drums, who has recorded and performed with John Scofield, George Duke,Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin, Niacin, Mike Stern, CAB, Greg Howe, and many others. Chambers has become well known among drummers for his technique and speed.

Bassist Jimmy Haslip has been the choice of the likes of Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Lorber, and Robben Ford. A unique low-end stylist like no other, he keeps things both grounded and propelled forward.

Monique Brooks Roberts Plays Sade

Monique Brooks Roberts is a violinist hailing from Louisville, KY. While she is successfully carving out a niche in her own right, her music echoes influences of Sade, Robert Glasper, and Air.

Monique has had a busy and fulfilling career, having performed and recorded for many notable artists including Alicia Keys, Common, Aretha Franklin, and Jill Scott, just to name a few. She has played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the John F. Kennedy Center, The Kimmel Center, Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, the world famous Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Russia and plenty more. She’s appeared on many TV programs such as the MTV music awards, NPR’s Tiny Desk, The David Letterman Show, The Stephen Colbert Show, the BET Honors and much more!

Sets will include vocal features and instrumental explorations of music from King's career, including well-known hits from her album Tapestry as well as deeper cuts from her catalog.

Briana Harris is a musician, artist manager, and entrepreneur with a focus on empowering creatives to do their best work. A versatile creator and collaborator, Bri has credits as a saxophonist, singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and composer.

An accomplished jazz pianist, Zweifel has performed professionally in a wide variety of genres across Colorado as well as in tours around the US. In 2021, Spencer was selected as a national finalist for both the Jacksonville Jazz Festival jazz piano competition, where he placed third. Spencer graduated in 2019 with a degree in jazz studies from the University of Northern Colorado and won ‘Best pop/rock soloist’ in the 2018 Downbeat Magazine student awards.

Gift of Jazz Presents A Tribute to Barney Kessel by Bruce Forman

Guitarist Barney Kessel started making a name for himself in the 1940s when bebop was on the rise. Kessel's biggest influence was Charlie Christian, who modeled a unique single-note style that would leave room in the music for fantastic solos. After recording a track with Charlie Parker, Kessel later landed a spot with the Oscar Peterson Trio. He went on to record with our beloved Ray Brown, as well as many others. Kessel held Downbeat's "Guitarist of the Year" award until Wes Montgomery came on the scene in the 60s. Kessel left a huge footprint on the scene of jazz guitar. His music impressed upon many, including Bruce Forman.

RON CARTER is among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz. He has recorded over 2200 albums, and has a Guinness world record to prove it!

In Jazz: From 1963 to 1968, he was a member of the acclaimed Miles Davis Quintet. Over his 60 year career, he has recorded with so many of the jazz greats greats: Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, Bobby Timmons, Eric Dolphy, Cannonball Adderley and Jaki Byard to name a few. He can be heard on many iconic jazz records of the 60's and 70's such as Speak No Evil, Maiden Voyage, Red Clay, Speak Like a Child, Nefertiti and Miles Smiles, to name a few.

The Songwriting of Ron Miles: Royston 5

Royston 5 will be celebrating the songwriting of Denver's own, the legendary Ron Miles and his influence on Royston's own compositions and writing style. With R5, Royston will briefly discuss some of Ron's compositions and stylings (with listening examples) before performing original compositions with clear connections to the influence of his friend and mentor Ron Miles. R5 will also perform original compositions of Miles.
